Vetiver essential oil has warming, sensuous, comforting, supporting, grounding and relaxing properties. It is used extensively in perfumery for its fixative effects as well as its fragrance. Vetiver has a sweet, woody and earthy aroma.
Originates from Java and is extracted by steam distillation from the roots and rootlets. Vetiver essential oil is a member of the Poaceae (Gramineae) family and is also known as vetiveria zizanoides, andropogon muricatus, vetiver or khus khus. Vetiver essential oil blends well with lavender, patchouli, clary sage and ylang ylang.
