Originates from Iran and is extracted by steam or water distillation from the fresh or partially dried leaves and flowering tops. Thyme essential oil is a member of the Lamiaceae(Labiatae) family and is also known as thymus vulgaris, thymus aestivus, thymus ilerdensis, thymus webbianus, thymus valentianus, french thyme or garden thyme. Thyme essential oil blends well with bergamot, lemon, rosemary, lavender and marjoram. Thyme essential oil is non-toxic and non-irritating. It can be sensitizing in some individuals. Thyme essential oil should be avoided during pregnancy.
