Myrrh essential oil is a rejuvenating oil and is beneficial for all skin types, especially mature skin. It is uplifting, revitalizing and has a soothing effect on the emotions. Myrrh essential oil originates from Somalia and is extracted by steam distillation of the resin. Myrrh essential oil is a member of the Burseraceae family and is also referred to as commiphora molmol, commiphora myrrha, commiphora madagascarienis, gum myrrh, myrrha or somali myrrh. Myrrh essential oil blends well with frankincense, sandalwood, cypress, geranium, patchouli, lavender, peppermint and thyme. Myrrh essential oil is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. It should not be used during pregnancy and should be used only in low dilutions.
